NFL betting: Week Two NFL previews of the top matchups plus betting selections
Actual NFL are posted in red
Washington Redskins +6.5 (10) at Dallas Cowboys –6.5 (27)
One of the biggest rivalries in the game and a tough matchup (and division) to call. Both teams went down narrowly last week.
Cowboys’ quarterback Drew Bledsoe is bound to have a better game than in Week One, when he still showed his class despite being below form. The
Redskins will miss injured Clinton Portis and there may be more pressure on quarterback Mark Brunell as a result.
Betting Selection: The Redskins will struggle. Take the Dallas Cowboys to defy the –6.5pt deficit in the NFL betting.
New York Giants +3 (30) at Philadelphia Eagles -3 (24)
The Eagles are a better team than last season. They did good things in their Week One clash against the Texans. Now they have the fit-again Donovan McNabb back they are a force – look how they struggled without him last year. The Giants are one of the very best teams offensively. The Giants were impressive in defeat last Sunday against Indianapolis and if it had been a boxing match they would have been declared the winner.Betting Selection: The Eagles may fly a little higher this season but they meet a class act in the Giants, who look good in the matchup NFL betting with a three-point start.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +5.5 (3) at Atlanta Falcons – 5.5 (14)
The Ravens ran riot over Tampa Bay in Week One. That 27-0 drubbing will have done nothing for Tampa Bay’s confidence and it could be the same one-sided story in this fixture too. They rely unfairly heavily on Chris Simms to save the day. On the other hand, the Falcons will feel very confident after their cosy 14-point defeat of Carolina when underdogs in the matchup NFL betting.Betting Selection: It has to be the Falcons conceding 5.5 pts.
Carolina Panthers +0 (13) at Minnesota Vikings +0 (16)
The Vikings beat the Redskins by four last week while, as we know, Carolina were defeated by the
Falcons. The online sportsbooks make this too close to call in the matchup NFL betting – with neither team having a handicap to defy.
Betting Selection: This fixture wont be as tough for the Panthers as last week but I side with
the Vikings, who had a good record last season despite all their other distractions.
