Arsenal vs Manchester United Odds Guide, Predictions, Betting Preview & Picks: Bookies Expect Goals

Bruno FernandesAhead of the new Premier League season, these two sides would have been targeting a top four finish as a minimum. Arsenal and Manchester United will hope that they can also challenge for the title, but early results have been mixed.

The Gunners remain unbeaten, but were held at home by Fulham last weekend. Erik ten Hag’s United have been unconvincing throughout their three games, which include a defeat away to Spurs. This is the Sunday match, with a 11.30am ET kick-off, but where are the points heading? This AFC vs MUFC preview, with its predictions and betting picks, plans to work it out.

Arsenal will go into this game as clear favorites with most of the respected stateside sportsbooks offering odds of 4/5 on the home win. The draw follows at best industry odds of 3/1, while victory for Manchester United completes the moneyline match betting at a top price of 10/3.

The Gunners have seven points from a possible nine and their home advantage has helped to influence this market. However, they have not been convincing, with narrow wins over Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace to go with that 2-2 draw with Fulham last time out.

Man Utd have six points after two wins and a defeat. Those victories were also by a one-goal margin over Wolves and Nottingham Forest. It’s one of those matches where the form guide doesn’t quite tell the full story, so this is a trickier call than the markets suggest.

Who are the key players likely to influence the outcome of this fixture? The first goalscorer betting is dominated by Arsenal players with Gabriel Jesus the narrow favorite at 11/2. Jesus returned from injury as a substitute during last week’s game with Fulham and he seems likely to start this time. Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah was on the mark in that Fulham contest, and he’s next up at 6/1, followed by Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka who are both listed at 13/2.

Scrolling down, we finally come to the first batch of Manchester United players. Marcus Rashford is first up at 7/1 with Anthony Martial further back at 8/1. For longer-odds options behind the front men, MUFC’s Bruno Fernandes is worth considering. He takes the team’s set pieces, including penalties, and he is quoted at 11/1. For Arsenal, Martin Odegaard is a tempter at best odds of 9/1. The Norwegian made useful scoring contributions last term, and has one league goal so far this season.

Away from player markets, Both Teams to Score is on offer for Sunday’s game at general odds of 8/15. Those who want to consider the ‘no’ option on BTTS can get a top price of 8/5. Total Goals is next and a stake Over the 2.5 line will currently be paid at best industry odds of 4/7. The next step would be to stake Above the 3.5 line which is available at 13/10. It is clear, based on those odds, that the bookmakers are expecting a few goals at the Emirates. If you disagree, backing Under 2.5 goals at 7/5 could be the way to go.

This preview will sign off with some suggestions from the Correct Score markets. If you are backing Arsenal, the 2-1 home win is an option at best odds of 17/2. The same outcome in favor of Manchester United can be backed at a top price of 16/1, while the 1-1 draw is on offer at 7/1.

Our AFC vs MUFC Preview’s Predictions & Betting Picks Verdict

Arsenal and Man Utd go into the weekend in fifth and eighth place respectively. It is still early in the campaign, but results have not been impressive on either side, and both teams would be keen for a comfortable win at the Emirates.

Based on those respective results from the start of the season, the draw will be a popular option, but we feel that Arsenal will edge this contest. Manchester United were in north London just two weeks ago, and were dismal as Spurs won 2-0 on that occasion.

A similar pattern could emerge on Sunday, if the Red Devils don’t raise their game significantly. Arsenal haven’t impressed either, but the added benefit of home advantage should see the Gunners claim the three points.

If you agree and are not excited by those 4/5 odds on an Arsenal win, there are alternatives. The bookmakers are expecting goals, but we don’t necessarily agree. Both teams are struggling to find prolific strikers and need scoring support from midfield.

Under 2.5 goals at 7/5 is our first tip, and we’ll add Bruno Fernandes for an anytime goal. United may find it hard to hit the target but, as a set piece specialist, Fernandes is a good candidate for a goal in 90 minutes. So these are our betting predictions and picks for this EPL match preview:
