Champions-elect Bayern Munich can officially seal the Bundesliga title on Saturday (12.30pm ET). Victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, coupled with a loss for Borussia Dortmund away to Fortuna Dusseldorf would be enough to end the race for another season.
Dortmund may well hang in for another week but the notable U.S.A sportsbooks are firmly behind Bayern as they prepare to host Monchengladbach this weekend. The visitors are in fourth place and aiming for Champions League football in 2020/21 but the markets have identified a firm favorite.
Matchup Moneyline Odds
All of Bayern’s win prices are short this weekend and typically, most sportsbooks are quoting -300 on the home victory. A draw is available at around +450 while the away win is out at +750 in places.
It’s tough to disagree with those odds so we won’t: Bayern Munich have won all five of their matches since the Bundesliga returned and a potentially tricky away trip to Leverkusen ended in a comfortable 4-2 win last time out. Borussia Monchengladbach’s recent form is mixed with two wins, two defeats and a draw in their last five. First versus fourth might usually result in a tight game but, if we’re looking for value this Saturday, we need to assess the prop bets.
Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach Prop Bets
Bayern Munich’s four goals against Leverkusen last weekend were shared around the team. Kingsley Coman, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski all hit the target so it could be tricky to identify a winner in the first goalscorer betting. That task is made easier with the news that Lewandowski and Thomas Muller are suspended for this game after both men picked up their fifth yellow card.
In that dual absence, the market is a tight one with Gnabry and Joshua Zirkzee listed as joint favorites by some betting sites. Leon Dajaku and Jann-Fiete Arp are close behind while Coman, Goretzka and Ivan Perisic may offer better value.
Players from Borussia Monchengladbach are struggling to get a mention in this market. Their first representative is Lars Stindl whose odds start at around +1000. Stindl has a modest return of six league goals this season but he may be the best source of strikes for the away side.
Continuing with our list of preferred side bets, Both Teams to Score is very short this week and we suspect that there could be some value in taking the ‘no’ option here. Bayern seem almost certain to find the net and Hans-Dieter Flick’s men have scored no fewer than 17 times in their last five matches.
In contrast, Borussia Monchengladbach have drawn a blank in two of their last five and have found the net on eight occasions in that period.
Moving on to total goals and we have to go quite high in order to find any value. Over 3.5 goals between both teams just heads above +100 numbers and that could be a safer option.
As for a Correct Score bet, we are edging towards a comfortable home win and a 4-0 final scoreline in favor of Bayern Munich can return up to +1400.
Our Preview’s Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach Predictions & Betting Picks Verdict
The suspensions to those two key Bayern players may make this a closer affair than those odds suggest. In the case of Lewandowski in particular, the home side are losing a man who is averaging higher than a goal a game across all competitions this season.
Those absences might just keep the scoreline to a more respectable one but that is the only hope we can offer Borussia Monchengladbach fans. Bayern Munich may not quite seal the title this weekend but another three points looks almost certain so you can take the home win if you want to look for a modest profit.
We are focusing on the prop bets for this game and we will start with the individual goal scorers. Kingsley Coman was on target in Bayern’s 4-2 victory over Leverkusen last time out and he has made some important scoring contributions this season.
As a winger, Coman isn’t prolific in front of goal but players will need to take more responsibility in Lewandowski’s absence and we expect the French international to keep pressing forward on Saturday.
With Bayern shutting out their opponents in three of their last five matches, we were expecting to see a little more value from the Both Teams to Score market. However, by taking the No option and predicting that the hosts will make it four clean sheets in their last six, we can get some higher numbers.
Monchengladbach haven’t exactly been prolific through the season and that mean Munich defense can lead us to some better betting odds. With that in mind, our final tip of Over 3.5 goals may need the home side to contribute all of the strikes but we’re confident that this brilliant Bayern team can deliver. Here are our Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach predictions:
- Kingsley Coman to score “at least once in 90 minutes” (ie: anytime) @ +179 with BetOnline.
- Both Teams to Score – Select ‘No’ @ +130 with Bovada.
- Over 3.5 Goals @ +110 with Bovada.
