Genesis Open 2024 Golf Odds Guide, Preview, Predictions, Betting Picks: 20/1 Value Tip

Tiger WoodsWith the first major of the season approaching, we’re seeing bigger events on the PGA Tour, and they are attracting more competitive fields. This week’s Genesis Open 2024 golf is the strongest of the year so far, with many of the top 10 in contention.

Each of the two previous winners of this tournament, Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann, have defected to LIV Golf, so it’s an open battle, with plenty of golfers in contention.

Last week at the Phoenix Open, we claimed a top 10 return on Sahith Theegala, who returned a solo fifth. It has been a good recent run, but let us see if we can pick out some longer odds winners at the Riviera Country Club with our 2024 Genesis Open predictions, preview and betting picks.

The event is hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, and that’s another reason why we have a strong field in place. This preview will get to Tiger later, but for now, Scottie Scheffler leads the way at the top of the USA sports betting firms’ outright betting.

The World Number One was aiming for three wins in a row at the Phoenix Open, but eventually settled on a tie for third, after being in contention for much of the tournament. His best return in the Genesis Open is a tie for seventh in 2022, and he is on offer at a top price of 15/2 with the sportsbooks for the win this time.

The second favorite, at best industry odds of 10/1, is Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman has two top five finishes in this event, but opened his year in the U.S. with a tie for 66th at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

A gap opens up behind the two favorites, before Viktor Hovland slots in at a best of 14/1. The Norwegian has appeared three times at the Genesis Open and has two top 5 finishes. Xander Schauffele is next at 16/1, followed by Max Homa, Patrick Cantlay and Justin Thomas who are all available at 18/1 in places. Homa is our first former winner of this event, having claimed the trophy in 2021 and he was the solo runner up to Jon Rahm last year. Justin Thomas also has a solo second place finish, behind J.B. Holmes in 2019.

Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Aberg are next, with both men listed at 20/1. Morikawa also has a good record in this event, while Aberg has recovered after a slow start to 2024, with two top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour.

Others to mention in this section of the betting lines include Sam Burns at 25/1, Jordan Spieth at 28/1, Tony Finau at 30/1, Adam Scott at 33/1 and Sahith Theegala at 33/1. Australia’s Scott has the best record of anyone in the field this week, with two wins and two runner-up slots. His last victory, in 2020, is a recent one, and he has been attracting interest at the bookies. Sam Burns is also tempting after a return to form and a tie for third on Sunday.

The big news surrounds Tiger Woods and his first appearance of 2024. The aim will be to contest all four rounds, and Tiger is way down at best odds of 175/1 for the win.

At the top of the underdog section, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young lead the way at best odds of 40/1. Young was one of two runners-up to Joaquin Niemann here in 2022. Wyndham Clark is next at 45/1, and he enjoyed a solid three days at the Phoenix Open, before a final round of 75. Jason Day and Will Zalatoris are quoted at 50/1, while Keegan Bradley, Sungjae Im and Nicolai Hojgaard are all at 55/1. Other outsiders to mention include Eric Cole at 66/1, Corey Conners at 80/1, Sepp Straka at 90/1, Nick Taylor at 100/1, Adam Hadwin at 100/1 and Harris English at 100/1.

Our Preview’s Genesis Open 2024 Predictions & Picks Verdict with Course & Betting Trends

The Riviera Country Club at Pacific Palisades, California, has hosted the Genesis Open on a continuous basis since 1999. It is a par 71, but there is some serious length at around 7,322 yards.

There are three par 5s in play, and there will be benefits for the power hitters in places. Greens in Regulation has often been a key stat here and the heavy rain in recent weeks will make the rough even more challenging. Greens are expected to run up to 12.5 on the Stimpmeter.

One man with a good record in this tournament is Collin Morikawa. He is in solid form and has the stats to convert an overdue win here. Morikawa was one of two runners-up behind Joaquin Niemann two years ago and he followed that up with a tie for sixth 12 months ago. His scoring average of 67.5 around this course is also encouraging, so Collin Morikawa is our tip for the outright win. Three additional top 10 betting picks are included as part of the predictions for this Genesis Open golf preview.
