It has been a fascinating first season in MLS for David Beckham’s Inter Miami and, while it is almost certain that the club won’t be making it beyond the regular season, there has been no shortage of entertainment.
Last weekend’s 2-3 defeat at the hands of New York City FC was typical of their campaign so far. Inter are thrilling going forward but are prone to leaving big gaps at the back and that’s why they have conceded heavily since the start of the season.
Inter Miami host a Houston Dynamo side who have also struggled for form (5pm ET Saturday). Tab Ramos’ men are languishing towards the bottom of the Western Conference and a win would do much for morale if nothing else. It should be an entertaining 90 minutes but let’s see what the American-focused online sportsbooks make of this cross-conference clash. Here we give our full preview of the game and Inter Miami vs Houston Dynamo predictions, with final betting picks.
Inter Miami vs Houston Dynamo Moneyline Odds
They play in opposing conferences but the records of Miami and Houston are evenly matched so it may be surprising that we have a clear favorite. Inter Miami are at minus numbers across the board with an average of around -143 for the win. The draw is the next option at +300 while victory for the Dynamo is only marginally longer at +312.
Both teams won in midweek with Houston beating FC Dallas 2-0 despite having Mauro Manotas sent off in first half injury time. Inter’s victory over the Red Bulls was just as impressive as they came from a goal down to defeat the Red Bulls late on.
With reasonable form in both camps, this could certainly be closer than the moneyline market suggests and USAbetting is edging towards a share of the points. Before committing, let’s scan the props to see if we can find some added value.
MLS Game Prop Bets That Catch The Eye
The signing of Gonzalo Higuain in September gave Miami fans a lift but it has been a difficult entry to MLS for the prolific Argentinian. A missed penalty on debut highlighted a shaky start but his winner against NY Red Bulls could kickstart his Inter career. Matias Pellegrini scored the equalizer in that match while Lewis Morgan fired in a double against New York City last weekend. All three could be options for Miami in the individual goal scoring markets.
For Houston Dynamo, the loss of the suspended Manotas may be the catalyst that swings this fixture. The Colombian is their most experienced and dangerous striker and his absence will put added pressure on Darwin Quintero and USMNT forward Christian Ramirez.
At least we have two promising front lines on show and it would be fair to suspect that we will see some goals on Saturday. Both Teams To Score (BTTS) looks an obvious bet and it is predictably short at a best of around -150. As for total goals, over 2.5 could be relatively safe at around -150 again but, if we go over 3.5, that figure becomes far more generous at +180.
If staying with our draw verdict in the moneyline market, we will be looking for a high scoring 90 minutes and a small wager on a 2-2 outcome at around the +1200 mark could be the way to go. Odds are still coming in for some of the props attached to this match but there’s enough in place already for us to return some value if we can make the correct calls.
Our Preview’s Inter Miami vs Houston Dynamo Predictions & Betting Picks Verdict
There may not be too much riding on this match with neither side in touching distance of the playoffs but, from a betting standpoint, that doesn’t matter. It is all about finding value and, if Saturday’s encounter between Miami and Houston does deliver the goals, there are some generous odds in play.
The markets will fill up in the build up to kick off and, when the individual goal scoring options come into play, USAbetting would look for Gonzalo Higuain to continue his fine run. This is a player who, at 32 years of age, has scored nearly 350 senior goals in his career and he should be a big plus for Miami now that he is off the mark.
Using markets that are readily available, we’re going to start with Both Teams to Score. It’s the shortest of our three picks by some distance but BTTS would have dropped in 70% of the last ten games played by these sides and it looks a sound bet.
Over 3.5 goals also looks likely in an attacking encounter with two suspect defenses on show. Finally, we’ll round off by confirming our original suggestion that Inter Miami and Houston Dynamo will eventually cancel each other out. A draw looks a logical outcome in this encounter.
