The early pace setters in the Eastern Conference of MLS are New England Revolution, who lead the standings with seven points. Eight places below them in ninth are Nashville but, like the league leaders, Gary Smith’s side are unbeaten in their opening three matches.
Read on for our preview, picks and predictions as these two teams clash in the MLS on Saturday (1.30pm ET; TV: Live on ESPN).
Three straight draws keep Nashville Soccer Club in the bottom half over in the East but it has been a bright start for both squads. Potentially, the form book could lead to some value in the betting markets so this is a promising game for us to focus on.
Nashville vs New England Moneyline Odds at the Bookies
Home side Nashville are favorites for the win in a relatively tight moneyline market with the leading sports gambling websites for U.S. players. The hosts are listed at +140 in most places while victory for New England can be claimed at an industry best of +188. Completing this section is the draw and a share of the points is quoted at +250 in most places.
Few games offer odds in excess of +100 for all three possible outcomes so there is some reasonable value if we can make the right call. Nashville have those three draws and are unbeaten but Gary Smith’s men have yet to face any genuine MLS Cup contenders.
New England have the better return, even though this is very early days in the campaign. Revolution have the edge in regards to form and they have come up against stronger franchises, so the away side could be looking for a draw at the very least.
Prop Markets Worth Investigating
Before committing to the result, this MLS game preview will take a look at the individual goal scoring markets and run the rule over some players who can change the destiny of the match. Many sportsbooks have three joint favorites to open the scoring and they are Gustavo Bou, Jhonder Cadiz and C.J. Sapong. All three can be found at odds of +550 in places.
Of that trio, Venezuelan striker Cadiz is the man in form. On loan to Nashville from Benfica, he has scored twice in his opening three games of the new MLS season. For some value in the mid-range prices, New England Revolution’s new signing Arnor Ingvi Traustason may just be worth a look at +1100.
The Icelandic international headed to MLS from Swedish club Malmo where he made some useful scoring contributions from midfield.
Away from individual bets, Both Teams to Score is available at -150. New England have scored in each of their opening three games while Nashville have drawn a blank just once so that is predictably short.
While neither side has exactly been prolific, those scoring stats are healthy and they should lead to some interesting odds in the Total Goals betting. Nashville have scored four times in their opening three games while New England Revolution have found the net on five occasions.
Betting Over the 2.5 goal line in this game will currently return odds at around the -120 mark. However, if we push to Over 3.5 then the price climbs to a respectable +220.
This preview will sign off this section with some Correct Score prices. Nashville finished their first two games with a 2-2 scoreline and there will some interest in that outcome on Saturday. New England also drew 2-2 at Chicago Fire on the opening day and a 2-2 draw is quoted this week at a best of +1300.
Those who are backing the home win can claim a 2-1 victory for Nashville at a general +800 while the same outcome in favor of New England can be found at best odds of +1000.
Our Nashville SC vs New England Revolution Predictions & Betting Picks Verdict
It is still very early but the form guide is taking shape and this match features two teams that have made solid starts. Nashville are down in ninth place in the table but we mustn’t forget that they are unbeaten at this stage. The concern with the hosts is that the quality of their opposition hasn’t been great and Saturday’s match offers their biggest test of the season so far.
New England Revolution have those seven points from three matches and they have come up against tougher opponents. For that reason, we are getting behind the away win with Revolution looking to take advantage of Nashville’s rather sluggish start.
Based on early scoring stats there should be a few goals so we’re happy to bet Over the 3.5 line. As for an individual scorer, New England’s new signing Arnor Ingvi Traustason should benefit from some questionable defenses in MLS so this preview will sign off by backing the Icelander for a goal as one of our three picks. Here are our predictions:
- New England Revolution to win @ best odds of +212 with Bookmaker.
- Arnor Ingvi Traustason to score at any time @ +375 with Bovada or Intertops.
- Over 3.5 goals @ top odds of +240 with Bovada. It is +220 Intertops.
