Both Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills are coming off important victories within the division (1pm ET Sunday; TV: Live on Fox).
The Seahawks handled the 49ers convincingly winning 37-27. Russell Wilson amassed 261 yards and four touchdowns through the air. DK Metcalf continues to impress and was Wilson’s favorite target on the day putting up 161 yards and two touchdowns on 12 receptions.
The Bills were significantly less impressive and almost allowed the lackluster Patriots to tie the game and bring it to overtime. It took a Cam Newton fumble on the final drive to secure the win 24-21. This was their second mediocre performance in as many weeks after an 18-10 victory against the lowly Jets in Week 7. Will the Bills be able to limit the explosive Seahawks’ offense? Read on for our Seahawks vs Bills predictions, analysis and full preview with betting picks.
Russ Wilson Will Continue to Cook
Expect Wilson to continue his impressive MVP campaign against a weak Bills’ secondary. Wilson is now the clear MVP favorite sitting at -175 with the USA sportsbooks. Mahomes is second at +350, Rodgers is third at +900, Brady is fourth at +1100, and Kyler Murray rounds out the top five at +1600. Wilson has been incredible so far this season and I don’t see him slowing down anytime soon. This should be another massive game for Wilson, Metcalf and fellow wide out Tyler Lockett.
The Bills secondary has underperformed so far compared to last season. They are ranked 11th in the NFL allowing 223.6 passing yards per game. In comparison, they were ranked 4th last season allowing 196.6 passing yards per game. Wilson is arguably the most dynamic quarterback in the NFL right now. He leads the league in touchdowns (26) and passer rating (120.8). Mahomes is second in both categories among starting quarterbacks with 21 touchdowns and a passer rating of 115.
Wilson has been carrying his team to a record of 6-1 and 5-2 against the spread. He will look to add to these numbers and Sunday should be a good opportunity to do so. His favorite weapon, DK Metcalf, is fourth in the league in receiving yards (680) and tied for first in touchdowns (7). Fellow Seahawks’ receiver Tyler Lockett is also tied for first in touchdowns. These two can really open up the field and should be able to take the top off of a mediocre secondary. The Seahawks rank 3rd in the NFL and average 289.0 passing yards per game.
Seahawks Secondary Statistically One of the Worst
The Seahawks secondary is not only one of the weakest units on the team, but one of the worst in the NFL. They rank dead last in average passing yards allowed per game giving up 358.7. Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs should be able to exploit this weakness and have strong performances. Allen ranks 5th in the NFL on 2,171 passing yards, which is 21 more yards than Wilson. Diggs is ranked second in the NFL with 695 receiving yards on the season thus far. He has 10 receptions for 20+ yards, which is good for third most in the NFL.
Expect this game to be a shootout with two strong passing attacks and one of the worst coverage units in the NFL. I think the Bills will able to move the ball fairly well, but will they be able to keep up with Wilson and such an explosive offense with defensive concerns of their own?
The total points is currently sitting at 55pts, which is the highest total of the week. With two explosive passing attacks and two lackluster defenses this makes sense, but still feels a bit high. I think the Bills will attempt to control the ground game to limit the amount of possessions for Wilson. I would personally stay clear of the total, but I wouldn’t fault anyone looking at the over.
Our Betting Preview’s Seattle Seahawks vs Buffalo Bills Predictions & Picks Verdict
USAbetting is going to be rolling with Russ Wilson and the high-flying Seahawks as slight -3pts road favorites for the pick. We would play it as high as -4, but feel more comfortable at the key number of -3. We see this as another dominant offensive performance with the better quarterback, weapons, and head coaches ultimately winning and covering. Seattle head coach Pete Carroll is 14-7-3 against the spread in 1pm East Coast games. We see this as a 30-20 Seahawks victory and so this is the conclusion of our Seattle Seahawks vs Buffalo Bills predictions, just the one pick:
- Bet the Seahawks -3pts @ best odds of +100 (evens) with Bookmaker on the spread.
